Grand Canyon

Third day Grand Canyon (of Yellowstone)

I checked in with a ranger early Tuesday morning to find out what Teton National Park was all about, she mentioned that it was a bit of a drive and very similar landscape on the mountains were larger. I inquired about her favorite spot in Yellowstone and she said hands down the Yellowstone Grand Canyon. Whelp my direction was set and my decision was made, the Canyon it was!

It was a bit of a distance as well but of course there was a piece of natures eye candy and spiritual stimulation along every bend.

The Canyon was spectacular and very picturesque. A beautiful waterfall thundering deep into this massive crevice three off an energy of both power and excitement. I visited the south rim and arrived at the same time as two tour busses of Chinese tourists. I had great fun offering to take pictures of couples and groups and a few even asked me to get in the picture. Most of our communication was limited to a game of charades, but I have learned from my travels to other non-English speaking countries that this is not only effective it keeps the conversation short and to the point. I may start communicating with everyone that way. So while waiting for the tour busses time to reload, i caught a rangers presentation that talked about Chief Joseph and the NES ?? Tribe. Very informative and I respected the fact that this particular ranger added narrative emphasizing that much of what really happened during this time period is not taught or accurately documented in our history. This including that every single agreement and treaty signed between the American Indian and the government has been broken or reneged on. When we trace colonialism in any area this is generally the case throughout history the native people always get screwed over. Welcome to progress and advancement!

I took some great shots hiked into a few “trail closed” areas then headed back to my site for some late afternoon painting. I am becoming very fond of this journey
