I met some folks up in the Cottonwood area and decided to backtrack a little and park it for a week or two closer to Cottonwood. A guy in the canyon told me about a great place called Dead Horse State Park, and it was basically in Cottonwood, so I packed up the show and headed back north. The park is a great location nestled in the shadows of a few mountains and the views, everywhere you look, give you a great sense of peace and beauty. A great place to settle for a piece.
Update 10/14/18
I spent about 10 days in Dead Horse State Park. I have really come to like this area and decided to stick around for a bit longer. The views are just amazing and the weather is awesome, breezy 70’s in the day and 50ish at night. Oh and there are mountains on all four sides of the area I am staying.
I have taken a number of hikes in Sedona which is just breath taking. Two days ago I hiked to the top of Doe Mountain. It is essentially a flat plateau at the top of the mountain and a trail that runs around the perimeter. The scenery at the top is just spectacular! There is also another area which cuts through the woods called West Fork (Sedona) and that was a beautiful hike as well. I am researching possibly purchasing a couple of acres of land in this area and will update how that turns out. I found a place to park (camp) that has electric hookups for 20 bucks a night so I will be moving the “Peace Train” over there and spending at least another week around the area. The people I have met are very cool and everyone is helpful and all seem to be very genuine and down to earth. My kinda place!
