First stop West Virginia

FROM SEPT 5- West Virginia was beautiful. I only ran into 3 people when I was on the mountain. It’s awesome that there are still places you can go”off grid” and commune with nature.

The camp host was a guy around my age that had been a bush pilot in Alaska most of his life. He said he enjoyed the solitude (when I arrived we were the only two souls on the mountain) he was a nice guy but a little stand off-ish which I chalked up to the nature of his position. I can imagine he has seen all types tramping through. I would love to dig into a few of his stories. The site was about 20miles deep into the mountains with a one lane, sometimes dirt, sometimes gravel road leading in and out. No water, no electric, no cell service. Great place to begin my journey! Very quiet and very beautiful. I did some reading and hiking. Since it was my first stop I tossed a bunch of “frivolous” items. I gave the Bush pilot the containers which he was grateful for, but still did not break the outer shell of caution. Oh well maybe next time around I can coax a story or two.
